Today was another day of organizing before heading back to school.

I happened to be in south Denver this morning and stopped by Micro Center for fun. Very cool place, and I got a free 128GB usb stick!

In the evening, I wiped a Thinkpad T60 that I got (also for free!) a couple years ago on craigslist. The battery is dead and the wifi doesn't really work, but it is a lovely computer. The screen is super nice and I'm a big fan of the keyboard too. Anyways, I wanted to install Haiku on it. I previously had NixOS installed (and for a bit Debian and Gentoo). I had Window Maker on the Gentoo install, it looked really cool. Part of me wishes I had left it, but I didn't really know what I was doing and everything took forever LOL. Oh, and the Debian install had NsCDE!! (I really like 90s computer aesthetics if you couldn't tell). And Haiku certainly fits the bill! I also like that it seems small enough to be educational. I'm taking Operating Systems this fall so I'm excited to learn more.

I have a usb wifi adapter (TP-Link Archer T2U Plus [RTL8821AU]) that I use with the T60, and fortunately Haiku had the drivers already! Apparently the wifi drivers are mostly from OpenBSD/FreeBSD and Haiku borrows them through some kind of compatibility layer.
